Local knowledge and established practices in socially engaged work are core attributes of the Place on Earth artists who will be positioned as
makers of change, affecting change through the commonality of creativity.
The artworks will form an unprecedented showcase of creativity, research and development, cultural and social trends.
Place on Earth uses art not as ‘art for arts sake or ‘art as entertainment‘, but art as a delivery mechanism to empower citizens and facilitate change. We help our artists question the way we look at the world and help others to question what they think, know, fear and hope for.
With our city partners we will target youth groups who might otherwise not have the opportunity to contribute their views on the future of their
communities, through to youth groups already connected to leadership programs.
Working through an interdependent democratic process, the young people gain a positive experience of and respect for good governance
and citizenship. Working with artists, young people will be introduced to the role of the arts and creativity to empower citizens to consider their ‘place on earth’, and to understand and ultimately influence how society addresses the challenges we face as an interdependent global community.
