SCALE AND BUDGETS

PerceptionAREA projects range in scale from site-specific projects exploring local issues, to city wide and regional programmes, up to international initiatives that investigate gloabl issues such as climate change. Budgets start at £20,000 and are available through a flexible fee strcuture, tailored specifically to each client and location.

Our range of past projects have secured millions in match funding towards future projects and have helped generate substantial partnership funding from regional and national agencies.

Local and site-specific projects: £20,000 - £50,000

	Growing Room >> A six month process consulting with over 120 local people over 5 boroughs surrounding the Hertford Road captured a sense of the value local people placed on their open green spaces and parks and informed the Highways department on future decisions including developing a new Neighbourhood Park and open green space.
	South Oxhey Book >> 800 copies of the book featuring voices from local people, the majority of whom did not use the existing library facility, were distributed around houses on the South Oxhey Ward. The books contents went on to inform the new development of the library which now acts as a diverse community centre with a variety of services.
	Stevenage Town Centre Gardens >> A three phase process to develop the historic gardens, resuled in £2 million match funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop the gardens, an Audience Development Plan and Friends Group. This new approach to master planning through the creation of place making teams positively built on local issues of use and ownership.
	EN10 >> A three month residency by artist Simon Honey consulted with immediate residents regarding the future development of the Wormely Community Centre, and demonstrated to designers and decision makers that the communities needs were pragmatic and cost affective.
	Its all going on at Sele >> Artist Karen Lois Whiteread spent time in different areas of the community consulting with over 300 people on the future of their community centre. The resulting 20 minute film gave a more balanced community view and brought together a larger intergenerational community centre management team.
	Underneath the Arches >> A wide ranging consultation which focused on environmental issues surrounding this major traffic interchange, and the history of the site resulted in a film which gives an interesting insight into the general publics' understanding of professional jargon around environmental issues.
	Clarence Park >> Over 100 people from the different areas of the 19 heactare park were conulted with, which resulted in a 20 minute film to inform the Parks management plan. The film gives a subtle insight into the challenges of developing both an established and traditional facility for the diverse constituent in the 21st century.

City-wide, regional and international initiatives: £50,000 and over

	Perception Peterborough >> A city wide visioning project incudling grassroots consultation, workshops for international participants and a high profile event for national and regional stakeholders.
	Jaywick Martello Tower >> A three year partnership with Essex County Council, including a series of connected projects and resulting in a Cultural and Arts strategy. Artist Karen Louis Whiteread successfully challenged the negative outside perceptions of Jaywick generated through decades of media coverage.
	With Our Ears to the Ground >> A county wide consultation that spoke to over 250 people from different communities to inform the County's forthcoming Community Cohesion Strategy.
	Place on Earth >> This international initiative developed in partnership with UN Habitat uses the PerceptionAREA methodology to give young men and women around the world a voice on climate change to influence and inform future policy at UN level.
	The Art of Common Space >> An international ongoing programme which explores what 'common' spaces mean in contemporary society and how arts and culture can influence the development of our public spaces. As part of the programme Gazebo TV explores the London Olympics.
