| Programme > Mapping > Arquitetura da sobra Dionisio Gonzalez creates photographic urban landscapes, rearranging housing and buildings to form a new architectural reality | In this series of photographs, Dionisio Gonzalez assembles chaotic architectural forms taken from favela towns in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. He spent two years travelling in Brazil and studying favela settlements to create photographic urban landscapes. In the works, Gonzalez rearranges housing and buildings and creates a new architectural reality. Favela towns are being demolished due to military confrontation and urban regeneration thus Gonzalez intends to recover the landscapes and their historical memory through the reinvention of these common spaces. |
