Through actions, collaborations, live art and critical debate participants and performers reflect on notions of local identity and the role of the artist as a social thinker and activist.
During the last festival in April 2006, the projects were varied from humorous to daring and all with a strong sense of political and social critique. For example, the project La Muerte Ronda por Todas Partes (Death is Everywhere) by Fernando Pertuz, is an ongoing list of names of people that have died due to violence in Colombia and around the world. The list is made through surveys in public spaces such as universities, squares, etc. in various countries and online (www.listadepersonas.org). The work aims at breaking the silence of deaths or disappearances to create a document of shared historical memory of violence. From a colonial past its present history of conflict, common space in Colombia – as in many other places in conflict - seems to be an ever-changing dialogue overshadowed by violence. | |
