They work across the boundaries of the art production world - from established media-art-makers to small collectives of cross-specialist practitioners. Furtherfield projects explore the exchanges between virtual and physical space incorporating a strong participatory approach to art production. The projects are often live, real-time, collaborative and accessible facilitating free interaction and communication between artists and audiences online. For example, Do It With Others (DIWO) E-Mail-Art gathers views of those who use social networks and digital networks on the Internet as a platform of exchange. A call for submission was made at the beginning of 2007 for people to send works. All works would be part of the projects and all participants would be curators. During a dialogue based workshop at the hosting gallery (http gallery, London) all contributors rearranged, took down, suggested works and all these interactions were documented and made into a downloadable catalogue. In project, Internet based exchanges set the common ground for social interaction. To know more about this organization: www.furtherfield.org |
