| Mapping > Bableswarm | Justin Clemens, Christopher Dodds and Adam Nash, Babelswarm, 2008 - ongoing Real -time 3-D art project in Second Life artists-in-residence Location: Second Life and Lismore, Australia Commission by the Australia Council’s residency Virtual spaces as new spaces for social interaction and cultural exchange Babelswarm is real time interactive installation created in Second Life – a virtual life game - and can be experience in real and virtual worlds. The work uses voice recognition software that makes spoken words into 3-D animations in an evolving Babel tower. To experience it from anywhere in the world, one has to sign into Second Life and feed into the installation through a virtual character. The installation reacts to the participant’s voice. The project was created as part of the first artist residency in Second Life which confirms how virtual public spaces are a new dimension for open spaces that instigate social connections. | To know more about this project: www.babelswarm.blogspot.com |
