| CAPTURE A land exchange piece by Karen Lois Whiteread Gunpowder Park’s first major piece of land art by Karen Lois Whiteread was the result of an Artist in Residency program which has created an important new cultural link between Wysing Arts in Cambridge and Gunpowder Park exploring art, ecology, horticulture, history, science and technology. The letters of the word 'capture' were cut out of a well-established wild flower meadow at Wysing Arts, and the same word was cut from a wildflower earth mound in Gunpowder Park. The addition of wild Poppy seeds refers back the site’s former use as a munitions testing facility. The two “words” exchanged places and remained in situ for two years. The work has now been reclaimed by the landscape. |
