New Haring Woods initiative 
Place on Earth presented
at UNEP's Youth Conference on climate change

Haring Woods presented Place on Earth at the United Nations Environment Programme Tunza International Children and Youth Conference.  The theme this year was Climate Change: Our Challenge

Haring Woods' new initiative Place on Earth in partnership with UN Habitat was presented at the Tunza International Children and Youth Conference in Daejeon, Korea on 22 August 2009.

The Conference brought together 750 participants comprising 550 children and their chaperones, and 200 youth from 106 countries.
The theme of the conference was Climate Change: Our Challenge and included two high profile events, a Seal the Deal Global Townhall and a Global Debate. 
 
Throughout the conference the youth delegates participated in regional meetings to discuss and agree on the roll-out plans for the Seal the Deal youth statement including the rallies to be held in 100 cities. The sessions were facilitated by representatives from the UNEP Regional Offices and the Tunza Youth Advisory Council.

From 22-23 the youth delegates participated in plenary sessions, workshops and presentations on the daily themes which include:
• Limiting our Footprints through Sustainable Lifestyles
• Youth and Green Jobs 
• Disasters and Conflicts and the Environment

On the 22nd August the Place on Earth initiative was presented in a workshop led by UN Habitat working with the youth participants in this meeting to consult on issues of climate change in relation to urbanisation. The aim of the workshop was to gather information on The role of cities and urban youth in addressing climate change.

UN-HABITAT giving young men and women a collective voice on the issues of climate change and sustainable urbanization through governance and culture.
