Dr Loraine Leeson
Loraine is a socially engaged artist with an international reputation. She has worked with East London communities through the visual arts and digital media for over twenty years, creating artworks in the public domain on a range of social issues. In the early nineties she co-founded and directed The Art of Change, well known for participatory projects exploring creativity in relation to issues of social change. In 2002 she founded cSPACE, which uses the visual arts, media and cyberspace to support local communities, children and young people in the expression of their visions, dreams and aspirations around issues of regeneration. She has taught and lectured in universities throughout the UK, has been a Visiting Fellow at the University of East London since 2001 and is a faculty member of the London East Research Institute. Loraine has worked with Haring Woods and the Gunpowder Park project.
